In the world of medicine, we talk a lot about evidence-based care, but we rarely talk about evidence-based systems for running our own workflows.  That’s where SysteMD comes in — a groundbreaking online course that elevates your intern year by introducing systems-level thinking into your daily practice.

Originally developed by Dr. Karishma Patel during her internal medicine residency and chief residency at UCSF, this course was one of the most requested and impactful sessions for interns there. Now, we’re taking it beyond UCSF and making it available to you — bringing a structured, systems-based approach to mastering the chaos of intern year.

Why Systems Matter in Medicine

Medicine teaches us the science, but not always the systems. As a new intern, you’re expected to admit patients efficiently, juggle a relentless daily task list, and stay organized in a high-stakes clinical environment. But no one really hands you a playbook for that. SysteMD is that playbook.

What You’ll Learn

A System for Inpatient Admissions:

We’ll share a proven, systematized approach to admitting patients — one that Dr. Patel refined and tested in real-world settings. You’ll see it demonstrated in EPIC with a test patient so you can visualize it in action.

A Daily Task
System:

You’ll get a daily checklist and task management system designed to keep you organized and sane. This is about more than just a to-do list — it’s a framework for thinking like a systems-oriented clinician.

Why Systems-Level Thinking Matters:

We’ll discuss how a structured, systems-based approach streamlines workflows, reduces the high cognitive load of intern year, and minimizes potential for errors, making it a game-changer for your efficiency, your patient care, and your own well-being.
